Meeting "Uncle" Danny!

Josiah got to meet Danny for the first time, as he was in St. Louis for a wedding this weekend. We were so glad Danny finally got to hold him...now we just need to get Aspa & Coleman out here for a visit!

We had a brunch this morning with Danny, the Porters, and the Andersons...it was so good to be able to have a leisurely Saturday morning with such good friends. Here are the girls with all of the babies born this year! Ella (center) was born in February, Gillian & Josiah were both born in June. It's been a busy year, to say the least!

Josiah's Baby Announcement

Most of y'all have one of these, but here's the announcement we put together for Josiah. We ordered it from Jamie at Wee Little Designs- she has some great designs and was extremely helpful. Check out all of her designs- she does baby announcements, Christmas cards, change of address cards, and party invitations. We highly recommend her!

Josiah is 2 months old!

It's hard to believe, but Josiah is 2 months old today! The past 8 weeks have flown by. He had his 2 month check-up at the doctor this afternoon. He is growing well and now weighs 12 lbs. 3 oz. He's also getting taller, checking in at 23 inches! He got 5 different immunizations (4 of them were shots) and we all made it without fainting! He did much better than I expected, so we'll see what the night and tomorrow brings...

At 2 months, he has some new favorite things...he is smiling, laughing, and cooing a lot. He loves going on walks and being outside, although that's been a bit tricky in our 105 degree heat. He also loves playing in his "Kick & Play" bouncy seat. It has foot pads that cause music to play and things to light up when he kicks them, plus plenty of dangling toys for him to look at. He just sits in it, smiling & laughing. I caught him on camera yesterday...

PS: He's wearing a bib because he's just started blowing bubbles and drooling too...

True Confession

So...I had a true "Ohmygosh, I've gone soft and actually become a mom" moment this weekend. Sunday night, Andy & I sat down to watch "Friday Night Lights" (the movie). Let me preface this by saying that I have watched hundreds of movies and am not usually seriously affected by them...especially football movies. I had the hardest time watching this one! There are quite a few scenes where high school boys are getting beat up all over the football field. I kept burying my head in Andy's shoulder and thinking about how their moms must feel, watching their sons get bloody faces, torn ligaments, and broken collarbones. What on earth has happened to me?!? I then decided that our son can play baseball, soccer, tennis, golf, or basketball, be a swimmer, a runner, a skier, snowboarder, or surfer. Football, wrestling, and hockey are no longer options. Andy is afraid I'm going to make Josiah walk around in a bubble :) So, apparently this kid has changed me and I am now a wimp when it comes to kids and full-contact sports. Who knew parenting would be so tricky...

Josiah's First Wedding

We went to the wedding of 2 Lindenwood grads last night...Zak & Lauren are now officially "Mr. and Mrs. Mussig! Josiah was of course excellently behaved throughout the ceremony and reception, even though he had been a turkey all day at home.

Andrew, Allison, & Josiah...their wedding is in less than a month!

Jeremy, Jewel, & Ben enjoying themselves

Carol was sweet enough to hold Josiah for most of the reception...Andy and I got to mingle and even dance! Here, she & Kami are keeping him occupied.

Yay for a fun night out!

Josiah's "morning after" picture. Looks like he partied a little too hard!

This is just a really cute picture that I found of Josiah...had to put it on the blog!

More fun pictures of this week

Here are a few more pictures from the past couple days...

Josiah still loves naps and bathtime

He's discovered his reflection in the mirror and I guess thinks pretty highly of himself, as he always laughs or smiles when he sees it...

Even though they're having a tough season, he's still a Cardinals fan...shown here with his "life-size" Cardinals bear...

And we've even managed to catch him smiling a few times - it definitely makes the crying and midnight feedings seem like no trouble at all! Praise the Lord for smiles and cooing!

This should satisfy your Josiah "fix" for at least a day or two :)

Thanks again to both of our families for your help, patience, and extra hands over the past few weeks! We really appreciate it and are so blessed that you've been able to visit.

I'm so popular!

This is Josiah, checking in. We have had so many visitors over the past few weeks...everyone wants to see me! Sorry for the delay, but my mom has been too busy to blog with all of the excitement.

First, Gram and Pop came back for another visit...they couldn't believe how much I had grown! It was so fun to see them.

They even took me for my first trip to the zoo. Here we are with the elephants...

And our favorite exhibit, the penguins...

As you can see, I obviously enjoyed myself. Sleeping the whole time in my stroller :)

Then, my Mimi and Auntie A.K. came into town. Papa and Uncle Scott both had to stay home (someone has to work in the family). Here I am meeting Auntie A.K. for the first time...

We immediately put them to work using some of their many talents. A.K. organized the pantry and Mimi baked lots of yummy things with some new organic/healthy recipes we found - blueberry muffins, multi-grain bread, wheat zucchini bread, and of course some chocolate chip cookies for Dad :)

Whew! I'm exhausted. We'll have to save the rest of the pictures for tomorrow's post. It's time to go eat and take a nap. Have a great Friday!
