Our House

We officially landed in our new neighborhood about 7 weeks ago and quickly settled in. Furniture is arranged, pictures are on the wall, we have a new floor in the kitchen & laundry room, and things are in their places (for now - if you know us well, things are never actually in their places). Friends have been asking for a glimpse into the new "Casa de Wood", so here it is!

Disclaimers: I have no idea how anyone actually takes a "good" picture of a room, so don't be too critical. Also, I never know whether to write descriptions above the picture or below the picture on this blog...any advice? Today I went the "above the picture" route.

**Note to Gulf/Atherton friends: That odd-looking white appliance you see with the cabinets - that's this fancy contraption called a dishwasher. It's amazing, you press a button and have multiple dishes washed at once, without getting dishpan hands! One day, this could all be yours...

Gentlemen, Start Your Engines

The Nascar season officially kicks off today with the 50th running of the Daytona 500! Yes, not only are we in the heart of ACC basketball country, we are also right in the thick of Nascar-land. Who knew life could be this wonderful? (heehee) While Andy & I will be rooting for different drivers in the race, we do have one that we'll both pull for...

Josiah's Baptism

Josiah was baptized this past weekend! One of the baptism vows is that the church as a whole will help to raise this child. I am so thankful for that, as each day I become more aware of my selfishness and inadequacy. What a blessing the community of friends and family is, especially when raising a child! I have to admit, my eyes welled up a bit when I looked out in the congregation and saw both of our families and the church members. I was thinking about how these will be the people who will help us through potty-training, discipline, picky eating, driving, first dates...they will help us teach Josiah about the Lord and His faithfulness. Wow. I truly miss St. Louis and our friends there, but I am thankful daily for the community here in which the Lord has placed us. I know He is good and it is good. And hopefully we will not move for a loooooong time.

Okay, enough sentimentality. Here are some pictures, which is probably all you want to see anyway :) These are actually shots from the "pre-game" photo shoot. We'll have the church pictures up later in the week...

And here he is in his postmodern church outfit. My great friend and fashion maven H.T. sent him these very cool jeans and hoodie. He wore them to church yesterday, since he's an ultra-hip kid.

Guess this is what happens when your mom is a postmodern, health-nut, "granola" kind of girl!
